The 2016 Lemelson-MIT award was given to MIT professor, inventor and scientist Ramesh Raskar. On receiving the award, Raskar announced the start of a platform for digital solutions to physical problems [R: Rethinking, E: Engineering, D: Design, X: eXecution]. At the awards ceremony Raskar stated,“Everyone has the power to solve problems and through peer-to-peer co-invention and purposeful collaboration, we can solve problems that will impact billions of lives.” REDX clubs bring together technical experts, innovators, research institutions, implementation partners and corporate partners that will allow us to solve the most pressing challenges within our communities. Acceptance letters were issued last week via REDx Mumbai and REDx Kolkata at Rootalpha was formally announced.

The REDx Kolkata Club is led by Mr. Parichay Das and Mr. Sabyasachi Mukhopadhyay. REDX Kolkata is inviting Innovators/Students/Tech Entrepreneurs to join the team as a member/intern by mailing their resumes to [email protected]. Selected candidates will get a chance to receive certification from Professor Raskar after successful completion of the 10 week course.
